About Mark Slater

Mark Slater is a composer, conductor, pianist, and cellist. He writes music for drama, documentaries and educational films.

I write music for films and perform on cello and piano. I live in Tokyo, Japan with my wife and a non-existent cat.

Originally from England, UK, I was raised in a deeply musical environment and was a chorister at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. I play cello, piano and began to compose when I was around 12 years of age. I love thoughtful color grading and visual composition in films and photography. I teach music and English as a Second Language. I also work as a full stack developer and occasionally do live video production work.
